Family! Friends! Others!
Sorry this letter is coming late! We went to Torino early this morning, and we have been there all day. We met the Zone Leaders in Torino. (Their City) and we walked around and saw a few things. Took a few pictures. Did some shopping. Ate some Pizza Kebab. And got a Gelato. It was the best P-day ever! Anyways... hopefully not the next P-day, but the NEXT we will go play some B-ball with them in Torino.
I hope this letter finds you all well and happy. Enjoyed getting letters from Mom and Karlee this week...really loved the pictures from Karlee and the things you guys sent. Keep sending stuff like that. I love it. Best thing I can get as a missionary.
This last week has been crazy, Thursday we had transfers and I said goodbye to Anziano Blaga. It was sad to see him go, he was a good missionary and he taught me a lot of good things. I’m sure that he was the person that the Lord wanted to be my trainer. That being said, Anziano Mendel is freakin awesome! It is SOOO nice to have an American companion, from Utah, who talks like one of the guys. SOOO nice to be chillin in the apartment and talk about things and just to have someone who is super chill. So cool, good missionary, gonna be an awesome transfer.
Also Thursday, I got to see my District from the MTC; it is always SOOO nice to see those guys. You form bonds in there that are just crazy. Talking with them, telling stories of things that have happened to us in the mission. I love them so much. I really hope to do a transfer with Anziano Money, Treadway, or Gibbons. I would be so happy if that happened. Anyhow, I just love those guys so much.
This week has been a rough one in terms of missionary work. We have 0 investigators again. Estuardo disappeared completely and Anna is now a New Convert. So...back to square one I guess. Like I have said in the past. There might be a few referrals coming out of the wood-works but for now it’s a little slow. Just finding work and taking Anziano Mendel around to the members to introduce himself and such.
Anziano Mendel is just so great. I am going to be so happy this Transfer. Plus he knows how to cook really well. Better than some Italians in fact. So he is going to teach me a few things. Super nice and just super chill.
Anziano Mendel paid me a very nice compliment this week 2 or 3 days after he arrived in Alessandria. He said that I speak the best Italian he has ever heard from someone in their starting their 3rd Transfer.
(There are 16 transfers FYI) This made me feel very good. Language study has been something I have gotten very serious about lately and also I’ve began asking people to repeat if I don't understand, also asking what things are called. For the first 2 transfers I just shook my head and tried the "Fake it till you make it" thing. But now I’m learning better and now that I have the basics fluent I can start fixing some smaller errors and learning new more complex things. And vocab that isn’t solely Gospel related. Because now I have the Gospel vocab down and can move on to everything else. So, now the fun starts! Ha-ha
Well, I’m loving it here with my new companion. The summer is here and it is getting hot. We have a fan in the apartment but that’s about it. So we open up the windows turn on the fan and sit there and drink cold water and try not to be hot. He-he it's fun. I would complain but then I think of Nate in Peru and he probably had worse. You own suffering can always be made less by the knowledge that someone else had it worse and still came out of it happily.
Hey!! Mom!! Please send me the recipes, and how to make the following
Shepherds’ Pie
Meatloaf
Gravy without gravy mixes...if that exists...I’m ignorant in these things
and also what to add to Potatoes to have good mashed potatoes...just
milk and butter... or what??
There comes a point in the mission where Pasta and Ready Sauce (The sauce already made) and Sandwiches, they just need to stop. So I’m going to try cooking a few other things.
Anziano Mendel really likes movies so we have been talking a lot about them. I hope that you have a running list of all the movies that have come out since I’ve been gone. Then we can watch them when I get back.
Anyways, Not really tons to report this week...Like I’ve said it has been a little slow with the work....Transfer weeks (when your companion changes) really really slide by.... Lots of change and messy moving and getting settled in...This next week will be better. Love you all and hope you are all doing well. Hope to hear from you guys shortly.
The USB port on this Computer is broken, so I will send pictures next week, if the Computer with the good USB port is open...ha-ha love you all
Miss you,
Love you,
Love,
